Miguel del AguilaSalon Buenos Aires
Two Latin Grammy Award NOMINATIONS
Miguel del Aguila was born in Uruguay, in 1957. He came to the USA in 1978, settling in California. Aguila's music draws from a wide range of influences and may be some of the most immediately appealing classical music being written today. In Aguila's music players are often asked to sing, play pop riffs, create extreme effects on their instruments, as well as playing with traditional virtuosity. Aguila's Latin American roots are apparent in this high energy ostinato-driven music, but there are also touches of the avant-garde, as well as a tongue in cheek approach that sends up South American culture. This is music that is fun to listen to and simply defies categorization, played with infectious high spirits by Camerata San Antonio. |
