Music of Ursula Mamlok, Vol. 3

Stray Birds, Five Capriccios, Fantasy Variations, Panta Rhei, Five Bagatelles, String Quartet No. 2, Confluences, Kontraste

The third volume of Bridge's Ursula Mamlok series presents seven new recordings, and a reissue of the classic CRI recording of Mamlok's Stray Birds, performed by soprano, Phyllis Bryn-Julson. The new recordings featuring oboist Heinz Holliger were made in Zurich, and the recordings featuring members of the Sonar String Quartet and guest artists were made in Cologne, as a co-production with Deutschlandfunk (German Radio). The music, spanning 46 years of Mamlok's career, includes premiere recordings that enhance Bridge's ongoing portrait of this too infrequently performed figure in American and German music. Also available: The Music of Ursula Mamlok, Vol. 1 (BRIDGE 9291) and Vol. 2 (BRIDGE 9293).
