2008 Grammy Winner

GARRICK OHLSSON WINS 2008 GRAMMY & SIGNS WITH BRIDGE RECORDS TO COMPLETE BEETHOVEN CYCLE, & RECORD LISZT & SCRIABIN DISCS

Pianist Garrick Ohlsson has been nominated for a 2008 Grammy in the “Best Solo Instrumental Performance” category. The nomination was for his recording “Beethoven Sonatas, Vol. 3” (BRIDGE 9207). The Grammy awards will be given in Los Angeles on February 10, 2008.

Garrick Ohlsson has just signed a contract with Bridge Records of New Rochelle, NY to finish his Complete Beethoven Sonatas cycle and to record discs devoted to works of Franz Liszt and Aleksandr Scriabin. Ohlsson's ten disc Complete Beethoven Sonatas cycle will include the reissue of four discs previously available on Arabesque, three discs currently available on Bridge, and three newly recorded discs.

Garrick Ohlsson's Beethoven series has excited great enthusiasm in the music world, leading to his performance of complete Beethoven cycles at venues including the Tanglewood and Ravinia Festivals. Ohlsson's Complete Beethoven cycle will be completed during 2008, and will complement his other Bridge titles: Bach: Goldberg Variations & Handel Suite (BRIDGE 9193), Music of Charles Wuorinen (BRIDGE 9008), Music of Justin Dello Joio (BRIDGE 9220) and an upcoming disc celebrating the 85th birthday of Ursula Mamlok.
